ITANAGAR, 7 Mar: A ‘mini-integrated communication & outreach programme’ on the systematic voters’ education and electoral participation (SVEEP) was organised by the Himalayan University (HU) here on Thursday, under the aegis of the Central Bureau of Communications’ (CBC) Itanagar-based regional office (RO).
Speaking on the importance of voters’ education and electoral participation, CBC RO Assistant Publicity Secretary P Das stressed “the importance of conducting such programmes in colleges and universities to reach out to the young voters for general awareness on voters’ registration and effective participation in elections.”
HU Registrar Vijay Tripathi highlighted “the need to understand the values of electoral participation, especially of university students, while HU Proctor Dr Dipongpou Kamei presented a paper on ‘Participation of youths in the election and choosing the right leaders’, covering various aspects, such as eligibility criteria to be registered as a voter, importance of Form 6, concept of EPIC, etc,” the HU stated in a release.
Heads of departments, faculty members, and students of the university attended the programme, it said.
