Editor,
Through your esteemed daily, I am writing to bring to your attention the curious case of APSSB-CGLE, 2022.
The advertisement for the CGL exam, 2022 was published by the APSSB for a total of 52 seats for the posts of UDC & JICS/JACS in various departments and district establishments on 17 July, 2022 with seven posts reserved for district-wise quota (DWQ) in the district establishments.
The exam and other formalities went ahead as usual and the provisional results were released on 21 September, 2022. The skill tests were also conducted on 16 October, 2022 along with documents verification.
After the skill test, one would expect the results to be out within 2-3 days. But instead of the results came a press release by the APSSB that the results were withheld due to an ongoing writ petition (WPC-277/2022) against the DWQ provision in the Gauhati High Court, Itanagar permanent bench, which was filed on August 2022.
The honourable court had passed an interim order, whereby the recruitment process could go ahead but the results for the 7 DWQ posts couldn’t be released until the legal process was completed.
With obvious complications that would occur in preparing the merit list due to the court’s order, the results for all the 52 posts were withheld by the APSSB.
After about two years and three months of legal proceedings, the writ petition was withdrawn by the petitioner on 27 November, 2024 and the interim order was also vacated by the honourable court, meaning that the APSSB could finally declare the results.
But today, even after nearly three weeks from the withdrawal of the writ petition, the results are yet to be declared by the APSSB.
On contacting the APSSB office helpline number, it was communicated that the office is too busy to declare the results of CGL-2022, and that there are other works they need to attend to.
One wonders how busy can a whole office be that it is not possible to declare the already prepared results in nearly three weeks.
