LUNGLA, 8 Sep: The Agriculture Department conducted an awareness and orientation programme under the centrally-sponsored National Mission on Natural Farming scheme for the Mangnam and Sakyur clusters in Lungla on Monday.

Entomologist KB Kayastha elaborated the mission’s objectives, highlighting the importance of nature-based sustainable farming systems.

He emphasized the use of on-farm natural farming bio-inputs to reduce dependence on externally purchased inputs, thereby lowering production costs.

He further explained various natural farming practices that improve soil structure and nutrition, promote crop diversification, and enhance the soil’s water-holding capacity.

Lungla ZPM Thutan Gombu encouraged farmers to adopt natural farming methods with scientifically backed approaches to ensure sustainability, climate resilience, and safe food production.

Over 100 farmers, GBs, and PRI leaders attended the programme. (DIPRO)
