ITANAGAR, 30 Mar: The Somnath Swabhiman Parv was organised at the grounds of Ramakrishna Mission Hospital here on Sunday as a tribute to the enduring spirit of the Somnath temple and the deep cultural roots that bind the nation together.

The afternoon began with humming of Vedic chants by Swami Jyotirajananda, Swami Devdevashananda, and Swami Divyavidyananda, setting a meditative tone that carried through the lighting of the ceremonial lamp by NERIST Director Dr Narendranath S and Art & Culture Secretary Mamata Riba.

Techi Ajum performed a classical dance, followed by a Shiva Tandav by renowned Kathak exponent Amit Mukherjee.

Adding a layer of historical depth, Dr Narendranath shared the story of Somnath’s resilience, complemented by a short documentary, and slokas by artist Mili Singh Lowang.

Riba commended the Ramakrishna Mission and the Leeyo Multipurpose Society for bringing the community together.

The day closed with a bhajan by Swami Pradiptananda. (DIPR)
