ITANAGAR, May 7: The Urban Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) project had conducted a series of Kishori Diwas celebration under ‘Scheme for Adolescent Girls’ on 3rd, 4th and 5th May at Chandranagar, ‘P’ Sector and Niti-Vihar anganwadi centres respectively.
Food was also provided to the anganwadi centres under the Supplementary Nutrition Programme by Itanagar Child Development Project Officer SC Tok at various locations.
Tame Yajum, extra additional commissioner informed that to ensure proper implementation of the project, the deputy commissioner has directed the administrative officers to supervise the same in every anganwadi centre.
Capital Complex Deputy Commissioner Prince Dhawan informed that the objective of the celebration is to improve the nutritional and health status of adolescent girls in the age group of 11-18 years and empower them by providing education in life skills, health and nutrition and to improve and upgrade their home based and vocational skills and to promote their overall development, including awareness about their health, personal hygiene, nutrition and family welfare and management.
On the second day, Circle Officer Heera Panggeng advised the participants to grasp the core objectives of the schemes for advantages of their own as well as for the society and nation. Doniik Tayu, councillor, ward no.8 appreciated the activities being undertaken by ICDS Itanagar Project (Urban) and announced to provide three ceiling fans and assured to initiate electrification of Niti-Vihar anganwadi centre at the earliest.
