AALO, Aug 13: The West Siang District Tobacco Control Cell recently launched a series of school awareness camps on the harmful effects of tobacco consumption.
The camps were held at government schools in Panya, New Market, Darka, Nikte, and Aalo.
During programme, PowerPoint presentations on the ill effects of tobacco consumption, besides its causes and remedies, and on how to quit tobacco were taught to the students as well as teachers.
The participants were also briefed on the Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products Act (COTPA), 2003.
District consultant Yomnya Badak, social work mobilizer Obang Mize, and psychologist Miti Gammeng were the resource persons of the programme.
More than 200 students and teachers benefited from the programme.
