KHONSA, Sep 21: The three-day ‘monitoring and supervision mission’ of the North Eastern Region Community Resource Management Project (NERCORMP) to Tirap and Longding concluded on Friday.
The mission team, led by Martin Luther Christian University vice-chancellor Dr Vincent T Darlong, visited project villages Ottongkhua and Naitong in Longding, and Lapnan and Hunkan in Tirap. The team also interacted with the projects’ beneficiaries, SHGs, NaRMGs, and cluster associations of adjoining project villages during the mission.
The members of SHGs displayed their agricultural, horticultural, handloom and handicraft products.
In Khonsa, the team interacted with government officers led by Tirap DC (in-charge) Hakresha Kri, and including Tirap and Longding districts’ NERCORMP project director Ruzing Bellai, NERCORMP district officials and staffs of partner NGOs.
Earlier in the day, the mission team inaugurated the first ever sanitary napkin production unit in Khonsa.
The team included livelihood and resource management specialists Amba Jamir, Kajal Chakravarty, Ashim Kumar Das and Shalome Yesudas, accompanied by NERCORMP Shillong director Adrian Marbaniang.
