ITANAGAR, Oct 11: Pem Thinley Pade, aged about 20 years, of Upper Subansiri district died in a fatal road accident in between Bhalukpong and Charduar in Sonitpur district on October six last.
The accident occurred when Pem Thinley, who was riding on a motorcycle, was trying to overtake a Tata Sumo and was hit by a truck coming from opposite direction, said the Officer-in-Charge of Charduar Police Station.
He died on the spot while the pillion rider identified as one Nihar Chettry suffered grievous injury, Investigation Officer GM Sharma said.
Police seized the truck and arrested the driver, who was later released on bail.
Charduar Police has registered a case and investigation has been launched, the OC said.
The owner of the truck bearing registration no OR-01H 9324 has been identified as one Pratibha Behera, wife of Manoranjan Behera of Jamalapur under Basta Police Station, Baleswar, Odisha, the Investigation Officer said.
Pem Thinley was son of late Lapi Pade of Daporijo in Upper Subansiri district. He was a B. Com final year student of Down Town University, Guwahati.
Meanwhile, All Pade Welfare Society deeply mourned the sad demise of Pem Thinley and prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul.
The society also demanded Assam Police to take immediate action against the driver of the truck involved the accident.
