LEKHI, Oct 27: Wife of Governor BD Mishra, Neelam Misra, advised the students of Binni Yanga Government Women’s College (BYGWC) here to broaden their outlook and promote social welfare activities, in addition to excelling in their studies.
Attending the valedictory function of the college’s 4th annual day celebration on Saturday, Misra exhorted the students to “cultivate lofty goals and excel in life.”
She stressed on the virtues of educated women, saying “they are the ones who educate the progenies of the state and the nation, and only the women have the DNA of caring and sharing.”
Recalling the contributions of Padma Shri late Binni Yanga towards women’s education, she called upon the students to emulate Yanga and contribute positively towards the wellbeing of all.
Expressing concern over woman literacy in the state, Misra urged the students to ensure that every girl child is sent to school.
“Let us work for nari shakti and realize the goal of cent percent woman literacy in our state,” she said.
BYGWC Principal Dr Aruna Gyati Lod highlighted the challenges and achievements of the only government women’s college of Arunachal Pradesh.
Later, Misra presented prizes to the winners of various events held earlier. A cultural programme was presented by the students of the college. (Raj Bhavan)
