LONGDING, Nov 17: Kumar Maowang Wangham, a class 5 student of VKV Niausa in Longding district, bagged the prestigious Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Ignite award.

Former president Pranab Mukherjee presented the awards to the winners at the NIF’s Gandhinagar office in Gujarat on Saturday.
Maowang was the youngest student among those who have received the award.
Over 90,000 submissions of students from 643 districts of all the states and union territories of India were received during the Ignite 2018 competition, which ran from 1 September, 2017, to 31 August, 2018.
An exhibition showcasing award-winning ideas was also held at the venue.
“The idea of making a life jacket attached with oxygen mask struck into the young mind when he saw his friend drowning in the river helplessly,” the report said.
