HIJA, Nov 23: The three-day cultural extravaganza organized by the North East Zone Cultural Centre (NEZCC) in collaboration with the Lower Subansiri district administration ended on a colourful note here on Friday.
During the three-day event, cultural troupes from Meghalaya, Manipur, Gujarat, Assam and Himachal Pradesh enthralled the audiences with their performances at Boasimla, Yachuli and Ziro.
The NEZCC, with its headquarters in Dimapur (Nagaland), is one of the seven zonal cultural centres under the union culture ministry. These centres aim to preserve, innovate and promote the rich cultural diversity and uniqueness of various folk and tribal arts by providing a common platform to artists for meaningful interaction, and to promote cultural integration among the zones.
Attending the valedictory function at the government higher secondary school playground here, Deputy Commissioner Chukhu Takar extended gratitude to the cultural troupes from across the country for providing the opportunity to the people of the district to witness various folk dance forms live.
“Such cultural exchange programmes will promote brotherhood among all Indians. For the people of the Northeast, and Arunachal Pradesh in particular, this is an opportunity to showcase our rich culture, tradition and hospitality to our artists,” he said.
Takar also exhorted the youths to be forerunners in preserving their culture and traditions.
