YUPIA, Jan 25: Papum Pare Deputy Commissioner Dr Joram Beda sought cooperation from the people for realizing “the dream of having an airport in the state capital.”
The DC said this during a coordination meeting held here on Friday to discuss the way forward to establish the much-awaited airport in Hollongi.
The meeting was attended by members of the Green Field Airport Land Affected People’s Forum, the All Arunachal Pradesh Students’ Union, the All Nyishi Students’ Union, the All Papum Pare District Students’ Union, the All Nyishi Youth Association, and the All Papum Poma Students’ Union.
“Arunachal is the last state to establish a passport office, the last to have railway connectivity, and now the only state not to have an airport in the state capital,” the DC said, and urged the participants to cooperate in having the airport established.
“The challenge is upon us – we, the people. If we fail, it will be a shame upon us, and each one of will be responsible for it,” Dr Beda said.
All the members present at the meeting underscored the need for establishing the airport, and welcomed the decision to start work on the project.
It was also informed that the land ownership title issue has been sorted out after a meeting between the land management minister, the land management secretary, and the DC.
However, the members said certain issues still require to be hammered out, and requested the district administration to hold more meetings for the purpose.
SP Tumme Amo also spoke.
Among others, the DLRSO and staffers of the land department were present. (DIPRO)
