ITANAGAR, Feb 2: The Itafort urban primary health centre (UPHC) here witnessed its first child delivery on Saturday.
The delivery was midwifed by Drs Radhe Akang and Pumin Hiri, with assistance from other staffers of the UPHC.
MO (in-charge) Dr Kabak Tamar informed that the baby is named Itani Sharma, born to Kanchan and RK Sharma. He expressed hope that with the first delivery, the UPHC would be able to offer its services to more needy patients.
Dr Tamar informed that the UPHC also has the state’s first e-hospital, set up under the initiative of Capital Complex Deputy Commissioner Prince Dhawan, which facilitates online registration of patients, maintenance of medical records of each patient through unique IDs, paperless medical services, etc.
The UPHC’s DMO, Dr Tasso Kampo Subu, informed that the health centre, located at the heart of the capital, is catering to the needs of a huge population, especially poor and needy ones.
The UPHC now has various facilities for pregnant ladies and children, like free antenatal checkup, diagnosis, medicines, and free transportation under the Janani Sishu Suraksha Karyakaram.
Under the Janani Suraksha Yojana, a mother who delivers a child at the health centre gets an incentive of Rs 600, and an ASHA gets Rs 400, while a girl child gets a fixed deposit of Rs 20000 under the Dulari Kanya Scheme.
Dhawan also expressed hope that the UPHC would now cater to the needs of many more patients. He congratulated the whole team of the UPHC, and urged the residents of the Itanagar to avail the services of the health centre, which also has an ambulance service of its own. (DIPRO)
