ITANAGAR, Feb 15: An EVM-VVPAT demonstration programme was conducted at Nirvachan Bhawan here on Friday for the political parties in order to clear doubts and apprehensions regarding the electronic voting machines.
Addressing the representatives of various political parties, Additional Chief Electoral Officer Kanki Darang said every effort is being made by the ECI to make the elections free, fair and transparent.
He highlighted the dos and don’ts under the
Arunachal Pradesh Prevention of Defacement of Public Property Act, 1997, pre-certification of advertisements by the Media Certification and Monitoring Committee, use of vehicles by political parties and candidates during elections, restrictions on printing of pamphlets, etc, and enforcement of the model code of conduct.
NLMT Tamo Riba explained the working of the EVM-VVPAT through a PowerPoint presentation. He presented a live demonstration on the EVM-VVPAT to the representatives of the political parties, and gave a hands-on training.
SNO (Training & IT) Ashok Tajo informed about the IT applications developed by the ECI for smooth conduct of elections.
He informed that a toll-free number, 1950, has been launched in all district headquarters, through which citizens can get answers to election-related queries. He informed that the ECI has launched the C-VIGIL application, which can be downloaded to submit complaints in real time, adding that the app will be activated once the elections are declared.
SNO (SVEEP) Lod Takkar also spoke.
The workshop was attended by representative from the BJP, the INC and the NPP. An interaction session was also held.
