TAWANG, Mar 5: Tawang Deputy Commissioner (in-charge) Dochora Lama on Tuesday inaugurated a month-long skill development training programme on thangka painting (traditional canvas painting) at the district industries centre (DIC) here.
Sponsored by the skill development & entrepreneurship department, 30 educated unemployed youths are participating in the programme.
Lama in his address encouraged youths to come forward and avail the benefits of such training programmes organised by the government.
“There are many government schemes for unemployed youths, availing which one can become self-employed as well as employer,” he said.
Lama commended the organizers for providing training on the traditional art form.
DDI (in-charge) Tsering Drema said the DIC always encourages training programmes on traditional arts and crafts.
She informed that training programmes were earlier organized in Lungla (on incense making) and Jemeithang (on local handmade paper). (DIPRO)
