CHANGLANG, Sep 7: Hundreds of youths took part in a marathon ‘Run for Drug Free Changlang’, organized by the All Tangsa Students Union for both men and women on Thursday, which began from PK Point to Yangchik Gate and back.
Pankap Wangsa and Runpi Taijong were adjudged winners in the men’s and women’s category, while Achen Mikkam and Jammun Khimhun, and Nemngam Kanglom and Nonbi Mamai stood at second and third positions respectively.
Cash prize of Rs 10,000, Rs 6,000 and Rs 3,000 were given to the winners of first, second and third positions in both the categories.
Addressing the participants, Parliamentary Secretary for DoTCL, Tesam Pongte urged them to convince their near and dear ones who are in the grip of drug addiction to shun it. He also urged the youths to become a part of nation’s cleanliness drive Swachh Bharat Mission and make cleanliness a routine work.
Changlang Deputy Commissioner, Wayong Khimhun, DDSE, Hartum Loyi and DSO (Sports), Kumar Doka also spoke on the occasion.
