ZIRO, Oct 25: A double storied separate ‘Eye Wing’ established at the Gyati Takka General Hospital (GTGH) here on Wednesday was dedicated to the people of Lower Subansiri district by Parliamentary Secretary for Food and Civil Supplies, Er Tage Taki.
Taki, who is also the Ziro-Hapoli MLA, described the establishment of a separate ‘Eye Wing’ as a major achievement in the health service sector in the district.
“It will cater to the needs of not just Lower Subansiri, but also of neighbouring districts like Upper Subansiri, Kurung Kurmey and Kra Daadi districts”, he said.
As the diagnostic facilities in the hospital have been revamped with the procurement of latest X-ray and ultrasound machines, besides establishment of neo-natal care centre and a blood bank, Taki called on all to avail the facilities at the hospital.
Expressing satisfaction with the performances of the doctors and other paramedical staffs in improving the health indicators of the district, the MLA, however, said that the secondary goal of educating the masses about prevention of diseases has to be still worked out rigorously.
He also suggested the doctors to create awareness on cleanliness amongst patients in their ‘Out Patient’ department.
Sharing his plan to reorient the GTG Hospital, he said as soon as the five hectare land for the new hospital is identified, the work shall start.
Earlier, inspecting the new double storied Eye Wing, he suggested the executing agency to explore ways to install a ramp and air condition in the OT.
Deputy Commissioner cum District Health Society Chairman, Kemo Lollen also called upon all the doctors and the medical staffs to be punctual in their duties.
DMO Dr Tage Kano appealed to all to avail the Jan Aushadhi store facility, which provides generic medicines at much cheaper prices and also to avail the free ante-natal check up on the 9th of every month under the Pradhan Mantri Matritva Suraksha Yojana at the hospital. Deliberating on the genesis of NPCB in Arunachal Pradesh, National Program for Control of Blindness SPO, Dr Taba Khana informed that the dedicated eye wing at Ziro is the fourth in the state.
“Arunachal Pradesh being the second highest in the blindness ratio in the country needs to take up measures to create awareness and improve eye care facilities”, he added.
The double storied separate Eye Wing, constructed by the RWD, Ziro at a cost of Rs 1 crore has an OPD, male and female wards, nurses’ room and an operation theatre.
Besides doctors and medical staff, government officers and Panchayat leaders were present on the occasion. (DIPRO)
