Workshop on career opportunities in tourism held

ITANAGAR, May 17: The HRD wing of the tourism department on Friday organized a workshop on ‘scopes and opportunities in tourism sector’ at the State Food Craft Institute near IG Park here.
Experts from Arunachal and other states attended the workshop and shared with the participants their ideas and knowledge of the tourism industry.
Director (in-charge) of Dirang-based National Institute of Mountaineering & Allied Sports (NIMAS), Capt Amit Singh, highlighted the scopes in mountaineering and adventure activities in the state. He also enumerated the courses offered by the NIMAS in adventure sports, like mountaineering, rafting, paragliding, rock climbing, etc.
Chairman of Jett Wings Group of Institutes, Sanjay Aditya Singh, spoke on the use and importance of information technology in developing tourism in the state, and stressed on involving the communities in making tourism successful.
Guwahati IHM faculty member, Bikram Sen, highlighted the scopes in hotel and hospitality management in the Northeast, while Chandan Jyoti Bezbora from Nagaon-based Food Craft Institute highlighted the courses and placement opportunities offered by the institute to youths.
Yonggam Tours & Travels MD Yomjum Yonggam advised the youths to engage themselves in tourism-related activities and turn such activities into sources of livelihood.
Tour guide Dogin Guddi shared her experiences as a guide.
APTOA president John Panye, SFCI consultant S Kar, and Help Tourism head Raj Basu also spoke.
Assistant Tourism Director Bengia Manna Sonam and TIOs Duyir Yedi and Danyi Mamung also attended the workshop.
