ZIRO, May 30: Several women farmers participated in an orientation programme conducted here in Lower Subansiri district on Wednesday by the Ziro block mission management unit of the Arunachal State Rural Livelihoods Mission (ArSRLM), under the Mahila Kisan Sashaktikaran Pariyojana (MKSP).
The programme was aimed at providing a platform to women farmers to interact with officials of the agriculture and allied sectors, and to sensitize them to important interventions under the MKSP to promote agro-ecological practices.
Addressing the participants, ADC Gombu Tsering said the government seeks to uplift the weaker sections by providing them with livelihood assistance through the ArSRLM. He urged the allied departments to “work out a mechanism for convergence of need-based schemes for women farmers.”
Agriculture Deputy Director Boria Nakum advised the farmers to adopt scientific farming, and assured them of “unbiased support from the department.”
ArSRLM Block Mission Manager Tsewang Dorjee said “the NRLM aims at social and financial inclusion of backward people by capacitating them with livelihood activities.”
“So far, 108 SHGs and 10 primary level federations have been formed in Ziro, which is an excellent initiative,” Dorjee said, and urged the SHGs to “abide by the rules for hassle-free financial grants from the government.”
NABARD District Development Manager Mewang Lowang highlighted “the schemes related to agri-allied departments eligible for government subsidy through the NABARD.”
He stressed the need to “work out a convergence mechanism between the SHGs and agri-allied departments for easy financing and strengthening the SHGs.”
Later, the members of the SHGs and the women farmers interacted with the officers of the ArSRLM and the allied departments. (DIPRO)
