KHONSA, Jun 14: In all, sixteen extension workers from different agriculture development officer (ADO) offices of Tirap district took part in a KVK Tirap, Deomali organized in-service training of extension workers of agriculture department at the DDA office here, on Friday.
During the training which was themed “Recent advances in Field crop cultivation in respect of Doubling farmers’ income by 2022″, Khonsa DDA, P. Khosia advised the participants to utilize knowledge of KVK personnel to increase productivity of crops.
KVK, SMS (Agronomy) Dr. Simanta Kumar Kalita advised the extension workers to give more emphasis on animal and fishery sciences along with mushroom cultivation and bee keeping to increase farmers’ income in Tirap district.
Different problems of farmers faced by the extension workers at grass root levels on crop cultivation also discussed in the training programme.
The participants also made field visits and distributed seeds of high yielding varieties of soybean and groundnut for cultivation in kharif season to farmers.
Further, Dr. Kalita suggested the farmers to increase cropping intensity of the district through rice – toria/pea/French bean cropping system and assured all possible guidance and technical support from KVK Tirap.
