DUI, Jul 12: The Palin PHE&WS division orga-nised a ‘Swachh Sundar Shauchalaya Day’ progra-mme, under the Swachh Mahotsav, at Dui village in Kra Daadi district on Friday.
The programme, which was conducted by ADC Millo Kojin, DMO Dr Higio Tama, BDO Gumku Tako and MO Dr Higio Riku, along with other officers, featured giving away of awards to ‘the top 10 most beautiful individual household toilets in the district’.
EE Likha Tekhi highlighted the various achievements of the PHE&WS department under the Swachh Bharat Mission (Grameen), and exhorted the awardees to “lead from the front in keeping the toilets clean and beautiful.”
Dr Riku spoke on the importance of living a healthy and hygienic lifestyle, stressing on creating a clean environment to avert communicable diseases. National awardee Langpu Yakia presented a brief on the impact and success of SBM (G) in remote parts of Tali and Pipsorang villages despite the tough topographical challenges.
The DMO emphasized on “change of the mentality of general public of Kra Daadi district regarding cleanliness of the overall district.”
The ADC on his part encouraged the participants to “continue its endeavour for the success of such type of programme in near future.” (DIPRO)
