Capital Complex Inter-Club Badminton Championship underway

ITANAGAR, Jul 12: The Capital Complex Inter-Club Badminton Championship began at the MLA cottage badminton stadium here on Friday.
As many as 80 shuttlers from five badminton clubs of the capital complex will step on the court for the top honours.
The winners and the runners-up will be awarded cash prize of Rs 1 lakh and Rs 60,000, respectively, along with trophies.
Nampong MLA Laisam Simai, who declared the championship open, encouraged the sportspersons to participate in such competitions.
He said sports not only inculcate discipline in life and help one stay physically fit but can also become a source of livelihood if taken up sincerely.
Simai highlighted the job reservation policy of the state government for meritorious sportspersons. He said the state government is focussed on and committed to providing ample opportunities and avenues to deserving sportspersons.
Arunachal State Badminton Association (ASBA) secretary Bamang Tago advised the participants to not take the tournament lightly as the best performing team and individuals would get entry into the Dorjee Khandu Memorial State Level Badminton Championship.
The main motive of organizing the tournament is to promote badminton among the youngsters and provide them a platform to show their talents, said CBC president Toko Chada.
Organized by CBC under the aegis of the ASBA, the finals of the championship will be played on Saturday.
