ITANAGAR, Aug 23: Naharlagun Solung FC and Abor Warriors will lock horns with each other in the title clash in the Itanagar Solung Football Tournament on 25 August.
Both Naharlagun Solung and Abor Warriors reached the final after defeating their opponents, Banggo United and Siang United, respectively, in penalties.
While Naharlagun Solung beat Banggo United FC 4-3 in the first semifinal, the Abor Warriors secured their final spot after defeating Siang United with the same margin (4-3).
The matches went to penalty shootouts after the teams remained tied at the end of the regulation time.
Earlier, striker Franklin Taki gave Banggo United the lead, scoring in the 17th minute.
Naharlagun Solung FC’s Opang Mibang and N Pajing scored a goal each within a span of eight minutes in the 41st and the 49th minutes to give their team a vital 2-1 lead.
However, Banggo United’s Alo Darang found the equalizer in the 62nd minute, sending the match to tie-breaker (3-3).
The second semifinal went to tie-breaker after both the teams were locked 1-1 at the end of the regulation time.
Siang United were leading Abor Warriors 1-0 at halftime with a goal from Omin Pangging, which was equalized by the Warriors in the 18th minute of the second half, with a goal from Kamin Daring (1-1).
The final of the veteran category will be played on 24 August.
