ITANAGAR, Oct 28: The Arunachal Pradesh State Legal Services Authority (APSLSA), in collaboration with the Adi Baane Kebang Women Wing (ABKWW), organized a legal awareness programme on ‘Women’s right and importance of registration of marriage’ for ABKWW members at a city hotel here on 27 October.
APSLSA Member Secretary Budi Habung spoke on “the availability of free legal services for poor, needy and tribal people,” the Arunachal Pradesh Victim Compensation Scheme, 2011, lok adalats, and the basics of civil and criminal laws.
He also spoke on women’s rights and laws related to women, including protection of women from domestic violence and the customary practices in Arunachal.
ABK (Apex) president Getom Borang highlighted the customary laws and practices of the Adis, and the steps taken for their codification.
ABKWW Papum Pare unit president Joymoti Darang, ABKWW general secretary Dr Mitinam Pertin, and vice president Onam Pertin presented briefs on the purpose and importance of the programme.
