BOMDILA, Nov 7: A police team out to solve a highway robbery case in the wee hours of Wednesday here in West Kameng district ended up netting a drug peddler also in the process.
The peddler has been identified as Dilip Gor @ Kaka (40), of Udalguri, Assam. The police team, headed by SI K Dev, recovered four kgs of marijuana and 20 grams of charas (cannabis resin) from his possession.
Gor has been taken into custody and a case under the NDPS Act has been registered against him at the police station here.
West Kameng SP Raja Banthia informed that, acting on information about a highway robbery near the petrol depot at around 2:20 am on Wednesday, SI Dev and his team, after an hour-long chase, arrested three suspects from various parts of Bomdila township.
Those arrested have been identified as Dondu Sidisow (19) and Miza Khadisow (19), of Rupa, and Akho Sidisow (18), of Thrizino. They were arrested in connection with Case No 27/19, u/s 427/392/34 IPC.
The police recovered 20 grams of charas from the possession of Khadisow, and, after Khadisow spilled the beans on his source of narcotics and psychotropic substances, the police team raided another location, from where Gor was arrested and more drugs recovered.
“The accused were produced before the district and sessions judge. While Gor has been remanded to four days’ police custody, the other three are in judicial custody,” the SP said in a statement.
