ROING, Nov 14: The opening ceremony of the first ever ‘Childline se dosti’ celebration was inaugurated at the Childline’s head office here in Lower Dibang Valley district by Roing ADC Tipak Pertin on Thursday.
The weeklong event is part of a national campaign to make ordinary citizens stakeholders in Childline 1098. The campaign involves a range of events and activities across the country for spreading awareness on the Childline 1098 emergency phone number for children in need of care and protection.
Childline Roing director RK Paul Chawang, school teachers, the Childline team, and students from various schools attended the opening function here on Thursday.
Childline Roing also celebrated Children’s Day along with the ‘Childline se dosti’ programme. Various games and other activities were organized for students from different schools as part of the programme.
During the weeklong event the general public will be encouraged to call the helpline number, 1098, to help children. It’s an effort to make the public a friend (dost) of vulnerable or troubled children, and to help them use the Childline number.
The programme will also include creating awareness on developing a friendly approach towards children who do not have a home or parents and need to be rescued and protected.
