ROING, Nov 18: Two days ‘self employment skill training in confectionary items, detergent and soap making’ was organised by the AMyaa NGO through the support of Quest Alliance, a not-for-profit trust based in Bangalore here in Lower DIbang Valley district on Monday.
Thirty women, including housewives, college students, unemployed youth and self help group members are taking part in the training.
The trainees are being taught techniques in making doughnut, banana cake, banana cupcake, coconut macaroon, pound cake and bread. They will also be taught the process of making detergent, besides aloe vera and neem soaps.
Kevineto Tepa and Juliya Kajini from Pro-Rural NGO, Dimapur, Nagaland are the main resource persons of the training.
The Amyaa said that it was hopeful that trainees would develop basic skills in baking for home consumption and start small scale baking, detergent and soap making units of their own.
A bamboo and cane handicraft training for unemployed youth (men) is also simultaneously underway in the centre.
