YINGKIONG, Dec 17: Heads of departments, BLOs, and representatives of student organizations, market welfare committees, NGOs, Women’s Welfare Society and political parties attended a district-level workshop on ‘Grass root democracy and voter’s awareness meeting’ here in Upper Siang district on Tuesday.
The meeting, which was chaired by Yingkiong CO Philip Jerang, was part of the sensitization programme being held in the run-up to the panchayat election.
The participants discussed issues pertaining to local self-government, electoral offences, corrupt practices and model code of conduct, the rights and duties of voters, the responsibilities of political parties and the media, the role of the state election commission, and such. (DIPRO)
