ITANAGAR, Nov 15: Arunachal Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) rebutted Chief Minister Pema Khandu’s claim that the past Congress Government was responsible for slow pace of development in Arunachal Pradesh.
“Pema Khandu, who himself was a part of the past Congress Government, should not forget that he had began his political career with Congress and rose to become the Chief Minister,” said APCC President Takam Sanjoy in a Press Statement.
Calling him a political turncoat, the APCC President said, “Pema served as Tourism, Urban Development and Water Resources Ministers during Nabam Tuki led Congress Government. He was elected as Congress Legislature Party leader on July 16, 2016 and became Chief Minister on July 17 before deserting the party on September 16 the same year. But, his statement proves him a true hypocrite.”
He also made light of the proposed visit of the Prime Minister to Arunachal Pradesh as announced by the Chief Minister.
“Narendra Modi promised to provide one crore jobs to the youth, if BJP is voted to power at the Centre. But, people have now realized Modi made false promises,” the APCC President said.
“With 65 percent of the Indian population below the age of 35, the youth, currently struggling with unemployment, can be galvanised into a force for the development of the country. However, India’s unemployment rate has registered a slight increase since the BJP government began its term in May 2014, despite the government’s professed emphasis on job creation. The unemployment rate in 2015-16 was 5% of the labour force, up from 4.9% in 2013-14, the year before the BJP assumed power,” the release said.
“When the central government or the CPSUs have not released payment for already conducted skill development trainings and almost stopped sponsoring any training and numerous executed approved projects, PM Modi’s promises have turned out to be empty,” Sanjoy said.
“The PMGSY contractors are aggrieved for inordinate delay in payments of projects executed, people are agitating for horrible condition of roads and private parties have been given upper hand to decide the fate of the state and its people reflecting the total incapability of the present BJP state government led by Khandu,” Sanjoy said.
“Pema should not forget that Arunachal Pradesh was granted union territory status in 1972 by then Primer Minister Indira Gandhi and also the Statehood by Congress Government. Whatever development is seen anywhere in the state, it is the contributions Congress,” the APCC President added.
