GUWAHATI, Jan 9: Arunachal has fielded 45 athletes in the Khelo India Youth Games (KIYG) 2020, which will be held here in Assam from 10 to 22 January.
The state will compete in archery, athletics, badminton, boxing, judo, table tennis, weightlifting and wrestling.
It has fielded the highest number of athletes (20) in weightlifting, besides eight in boxing, seven in judo, four in athletics, two each in archery and badminton, and one each in table tennis and wrestling.
Lifter Kojum Taba will be the flag-bearer of the state contingent during the opening ceremony, which will be held at Indira Gandhi stadium here on Saturday. As many as 6,800 athletes from 37 states and union territories will be competing in 20 sports.
Sports Minister Kiren Rijiju and Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal will be present at the opening ceremony.
