Gov for creating rural self-employment avenues

ITANAGAR, Feb 4: Union Khadi & Village Industries Commission (KVIC) Chairman Vinai Kumar Saxena called on Governor BD Mishra at the Raj Bhavan here on 4 February.
During their meeting, Mishra emphasized on “exploring new avenues for providing employment; creating self-reliance among the poor; and “building strong rural community self-employment avenues.”
The governor, who has been promoting the state’s traditional handloom and handicrafts, asked the KVIC chairman to assist the local artisans and entrepreneurs in producing saleable articles.
He advocated putting more focus on planning, promotion, organisation and implementation of programmes for the development of khadi and other village industries in the rural areas, “in coordination with other agencies engaged in rural development. (Raj Bhavan)
