ITANAGAR, Feb 21: Statehood Day was celebrated across Arunachal with great enthusiasm, highlighting the various achievements and development initiatives of the state as well as the central government.
Reports of the state’s foundation day celebration have been received from Hawai (Anjaw), Changlang, Anini (Dibang Valley), Pasighat (East Siang), Koloriang (Kurung Kumey), Palin (Kra Daadi), Longding, Roing (Lower Dibang Valley), Yupia (Papum Pare), Tawang, Daporijo (Upper Subansiri), Bomdila (West Kameng), Aalo (West Siang), Yingkiong (Upper Siang), and other districts.
In Pasighat, DC Kinny Singh hoisted the national flag and urged the people to cooperate with the administration “in making East Siang a smart district on all fronts.”
On the occasion, Siluk village was awarded for being the cleanest village (2019) of East Siang district. ASHAs T Doke, Y Ering and B Tatak were also awarded for their commendable services to the society. MLA Ninong Ering also attended the function.
In Koloriang, DC Kento Riba sought cooperation from all stakeholders for early completion of the Trans-Arunachal Highway from Joram to Koloriang.
The district administration awarded commendation certificates to Nani Chada (PGT, GHSS, Koloriang), Bhaskar Pandey (TGT, GHSS, Leel), Nangram Kabjik (PRT, GMS, Ampongne), Nangram Kaku (TGT, government UPS, New Bazar), and Tadar Choji (ISSE PRT, GPS, Lower Nyapin).
In Palin, a SAD camp was organized as part of the celebration. DC S Miji inaugurated it and urged the public to take advantage of the services. He also launched a signature campaign for a ‘Green and clean Palin’.
In Longding, MLA Tanpho Wangnaw appealed to the public to cooperate with the district administration in maintaining peace and law and order in the district.
The celebration in Roing was marked by a cultural dance competition among different PLFs and SHGs of the area with the theme ‘Communal harmony’, under the ‘Arunachal Rising’ campaign. It also featured a firefighting display by the fire brigade.
In Yupia, DC Pige Ligu highlighted the “successful implementation” of various central and state flagship programmes in Papum Pare district.
The DC felicitated Dr Taw Mala (SMO, CHC, Balijan), Surojit Gayen (pharmacist, sub-centre, Khamir), Phukan Terang (MTS, DMO office, Yupia), and L/Ct Dolang Oni and Head Constable (Driver) Tsering Dorjee Goiba from the Doimukh police station with commendation certificates for their meritorious services.
In Tawang, DC Sang Phuntsok highlighted the ongoing developmental activities in the district and urged farmers to protect their crops from wild animals. Solar fencing had been sanctioned by local MLA Tsering Tashi last year for the farmers of Khirmu village on an experimental basis. This year, Rs 50 lakhs have been sanctioned for the farmers of Soma, Khardung, Shernup, Audung and Beikhar villages.
In Daporijo, DC Kanto Danggen said, “The world has become a global village and we too have to change our outlook mentality along with the world. The clan- and community-based organizations have to work together with the motto ‘One Arunachal, one India’.”
In Bomdila, DC Karma Leki said prevalence of peace and tranquility and maintenance of law and order would accelerate the pace of development. He urged the people to actively participate in the census operation “as planning and development parameters of a nation are based purely on census data.” (With inputs from DIPROs)
