NAMSAI, Nov 23: Senior Scientist cum Head in-charge Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Namsai, Dr Debasis Sasmal informed that the KVK under ICAR-RC for NEH region, Basar will introduce a new poultry programme for the villagers at Kaisu village under Namsai Circle, for which, at least 50 to 100 chicks, besides feed and medicines will be distributed to the farmers initially.
Addressing the valedictory function of a two-day long farmers’ training programme on fishery and poultry farming on Thursday, which was attended by over 32 beneficiaries, Dr Sasmal advised them to come forward and take advantage of the training and demonstrations from KVK and develop their own model farm.
He further informed that KVK will provide all the technical guidance to the farmers for establishing poultry units.
‘The main objective is to meet the demand of meat and eggs of the district as well as increase the income with minimum effort by backyard poultry farming. This is an innovative approach and will be implemented in this district for the first time under the supervision of Dr B K D Borah of the KVK’, he informed.
