HAWAI, Aug 31: The Anjaw unit BJP Yuva Morcha organised a two-day ‘Tiranga Yatra’ on August 28, which began from Hayuliang General Ground and culminated at the Namti 1962 War Memorial Ground in Walong.
Led by district BJYM President, Retemso Manyu, the 160 km yatra with about 70 motorcyclists, was flagged off by district BJP President Soney Manyu and BJP Mandal President Soblem Pul.
The objective of the yatra was to pay homage to the freedom fighters who sacrificed for the nation in the 1962 war with China at Walong, and to stir the feeling of nationalism amongst the youths of the areas.
On August 29, the yatra was followed up with a cleanliness drive in line with the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan and a tree plantation at the Walong hospital.
A meeting was also held to mark the end of the yatra at Walong Town Hall, where MLA Dasanglu Pul highlighted the achievements of the state government and discussed future initiatives.
