PMC seeks Governor’s support

PASIGHAT, Sep 3: The Pasighat Municipal Council (PMC) Chief Councilor, Kaling Doruk and Joint Secretary State Level Committee Brand Ambassador (Nav Ratnas), Talut Mize submitted a memorandum to Governor P B Acharya on Friday, seeking support in getting funds for sanitation activities under the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan and release of remaining funds for electric cremation ground.
Citing exponential population growth as a big challenge to provide basic civic services, Doruk said that there are many cleanliness activities that the PMC has to take up.
“The ULB is yet to levy civic charges from the citizens which is why we are fully dependent on the grants and aid from the state and central governments. We are also short on sanitary vehicles and manpower”, Doruk said, while appealing for early sanction and release of remaining funds for electric cremation ground at 21 Mile, where 65 acres of land is ready to be developed as a graveyard-cum-crematoria.
Out of the total Rs 4.21 crore, only Rs 50 lakh has been sanctioned for initial survey and soil testing which stands utilized, the PMC Chief informed.
In a separate meeting with UD & TPT Minister, Nabam Rebia on the same day, Doruk appealed for early sanctioning of Special Purpose Vehicle for Smart City Pasighat, to which Rebia assured to sanction it from his side and send it for final approval to the Chief Minister.
Doruk also apprised and appealed to Rebia to select Pasighat as one of the cities under the Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT).
