Itanagar, Oct 3: The People’s Party of Arunachal (PPA) emphasized the need of enacting a stringent law in the state to deal with the refugee issues based on Eastern Bengal Regulation Act 1873 in view of the prevailing situation.
The prevailing situation demands that an Act or a stringent law of our own in the state on the refugees based on Eastern Bengal Regulation Act 1873 is the need of the hour, the party stated in a release.
Stating that the issue of Tibetan Rehabilitation Policy (TRP) was never discussed among the legislators prior to its introduction in the Cabinet meeting, PPA demanded to immediately call back the letter of proposal issued by the Political Department, GoAP for implementation of Tibetan Rehabilitation Policy, 2014 in the state of Arunachal Pradesh.
“A fresh government order be circulated to all the districts and departments repealing its previous proposal,” the release said.
PPA urged all the legislators of the state to be united on the refugee issue brushing aside the party differences and come out with a strong legislation on the issue and a separate Department of Refugees to monitor, check and keep in records the movement of the refugees within the territory of the state.
The Party suggested the government that the issue should no more be shelved and it be settled at the earliest.
“The government should not create situations that will compel the civil societies, student organizations and political parties to take to the streets,” the party warned.
