CHANGLANG, Oct 11: Rangringkan Football Club lifted the first MLA Football Trophy beating Richi Line football (team-A) by solitary goal in a nail biting final match at Namtok circle headquarters on Wednesday.
In a evenly poised match, Chaikham Haisa of Rangrinkan Football Club scored in 34th minute of the first-half, which turned out to be the match winners.
Kongsa Football Club was adjudged most disciplined team among the 11 participating teams.
Remlong Hakhi of Rangringkan Football Club became the highest scorer and Jakarious Tuti of Garaline football club was adjudged the best goalkeeper.
The winner and runners up team were awarded trophies, cash prizes, medals and certificates.
The tournament with theme “Say no to Drugs” was organized by local Administration, Namtok.
The tournament was organized with the objectives of providing the budding football players of Namtok circle to show their talents; who otherwise hardly get any chance to play in district headquarters to show their hidden talents, said sponsor of the tournament Tesam Pongte,, Parliamentary Secretary and Changlang North MLA.
He hoped that the running football trophy tournament would help promote games and sports activities in the region. He asked the youth to practice hard and try to participate in district level competitions while assuring all possible help for them.
He also appealed to the youth of the Circle not to get misguided and stay away from drug addiction and its illicit trafficking. He appealed to all and sundry to cooperate with the local administration in stopping illicit drug trafficking.
DSO Kumar Doka assured to provide games and sports equipments for the region in the days to come.
