ITANAGAR, Oct 20: Expressing concern over the inordinate delay in the execution of the proposed Government Engineering College, Toru project, the All Sagalee Students’ Union (ASSU) has appealed to the Chief Engineer (CE) PWD (Western Zone) to expedite the project in the larger interest of the people of the area.
In a representation to the Chief Engineer (CE) PWD on Oct 18 last, the Students’ Union has claimed that work has not begun against the said project which was approved in 2013 despite sanction of Rs. 26 crore (approximately) from the state government for early work execution.
‘People of Toru and Kheel under 15th Sagalee Constituency had generously donated their ancestral agriculture land in 2012 for the project with the hope that it will benefit the unemployed youths and poor students. However, the inordinate delay in the execution of the project has been depriving the land donors and many of the poor students who are now compelled to pursue their studies in private institutes across the country due to delay in execution of the said project,’ it stated.
