ITANAGAR, Nov 5: The Arunachal Pradesh Police (APP) organised a 10 km-run in Itanagar for the first time on the occasion of its forthcoming 45th Raising Day on Sunday, with the theme ‘Crime Free Arunachal’.
The race, which saw the participation of over 400 people, was flagged off from Indira Gandhi Park parade ground by Parliamentary Secretary for Home, Pani Taram and culminated at the police headquarters.
Before the race, Taram encouraged participants to keep physically fit and exhorted everyone to contribute towards achieving a crime-free society.
Later, in the women’s category, Obur Sibo, Yabang Tali and Yanu Ruiyi came in at first, second and third positions, while in the men’s category, Mudang Omo, Bamo Tamang and Karbi Kema secured first, second and third places.
The winners will be awarded prize money of Rs 20,000, Rs 15,000 and Rs 10,000 respectively in both categories by Home Minister Kumar Waii during the APP Raising Day on November 8 at PTC Banderdewa.
DGP Sandeep Goel, IGP Sunil Garg, Tojo Karga (Commandent 1BN), SP Yupia, Tume Amo, IPS Shweta Chauhan, SP (Crime) Dr Navdeep Singh Brar and several other police officers were also present on the occasion.
