CM’s Sub-Veteran and Veteran Badminton Championship concludes

ROING, Nov 19: Dilip Gurung, representing Itanagar Badminton Club (IBC) won the men’s single title in the 35-plus age category in the 4th Chief Minister’s Sub-Veteran and Veteran State Level Badminton Championship, 2017.
He defeated Open Melo in 2-1 set (14-21 21-12 21-12). Melo represented Lower Dibang Valley Badminton Association (LDVBA).
The women’s single title in 35-plus age category was won by Taw Yania of West Siang. She defeated Pema Ladon of IBC 21-11 20-22 21-12.
The pair of Tomar Ango and Saji Baby of IBC defeated the duo of Open Melo and Pranko Miso of LDVBA in straight 21-13 21-19 sets to win the men’s double title in 35-plus age category.
Monya Riba of West Siang won the men’s single title in 40-plus age category beating compatriot Lee Sora 14-21 21-14 21-14.
The pair of Arup Borgohain and Joram Siilo of IBC won the men’s doubles title in 40-plus age category. They beat the pair of Jarsa Gamlin and Karmo Riram of West Siang in straight 21-19, 21-13 sets.
Karmo Riram of West Siang defeated Laa Ribe of IBC 21-18 16-21 21-19 to win the men’s single title in 45-plus age category.
The doubles title in this age category was won by the duo of Jarsa Gamlin and Karmo Riram. They beat the pair of Gechi Doke and Tamu Tamin of IBC in two straight sets (21-12 21-12).
Nyali Ete (IBC) won the men’s single title in 50-puls age category defeating Dobin Lendo (IBC) 19-21 21-6 24-22.
The doubles title in this age category was won by Arup Borgohain-Dobin Lendo (IBC) defeating the pair of Gechi Doke and Numyom Sora(IBC) in straight 21-10 21-16 sets.
The mixed doubles title was won by the duo of Jarsa Gamlin-Boni Yapi of West Siang defeating the pair of Saji Baby and Lika Main (IBC) (21-15 21-18).
Superintendent of Police, Sanjay Kumar Sain, who attended the closing ceremony at Ita Pulu Indoor Stadium on Saturday, announced Rs 50, 000 for LDVBA to conduct a badminton tournament for school children.
Rajya Sabha Member Mukut Mithi and Executive Director (NHPC) Govinda Vaidya were also present during the closing function.
The tournament was conducted under the supervision of Chief Referee Penya Bagra and Joint Secretary Tournament ASBA Nich Bapu.
The tournament was organised by LDVBA in collaboration with ASBA Ita Pulu Indoor Stadium here.
