Former AAPSU leader Pongsa Saham dies

ITANAGAR, Nov 26: Former All Arunachal Pradesh Students’ Union (AAPSU) leader Pongsa Saham passed away at the age of 45 on Saturday in a private hospital in Dibrugarh, Assam.
Pongsa was elected as General Secretary of AAPSU for the tenure from 1997 to 1999. He voiced for establishment of High Court and the Central University in the state.
He also served as Editor of Wancho Cultural Society and Assistant General Secretary of the All Tirap Students’ Union.
AAPSU President Hawa Bagang expressed shock and profound grief over the untimely demise of the former AAPSU leader.
“Pongsa was a very sincere and dedicated student leader. His sudden demise has caused an irreparable loss not only to his family members but also to the people of Arunachal Pradesh,” he said, and conveyed heartfelt condolence to the bereaved family to withstand the tragedy.
Meanwhile, an AAPSU team, headed by General Secretary Tobom Dai arrived in Longding to attend the funeral of Pongsa.
Tobom said that the AAPSU and the people of Arunachal will always cherish the fond memories of Pongsa and his contribution for the state and the student community.
Terming him as an exceptionally brilliant youth of Longding district, Education Minister Honchung Ngandam deeply mourned his untimely demise and termed it as a great loss for the state, district and family in particular.
Ngandam joined all mourners to pray for the departed soul to rest in eternal peace.
