BOMDILA, Dec 3: The West Kameng District Legal Services Authority recently conducted a two-day door-to-door awareness campaign among the labourers of the Border Roads Organisation residing along the Bhalukpong-Bomdila road.
Chaired by Additional District Sessions Judge, Gote Mega, the campaign, which concluded on Sunday, was aimed at making the labourers aware of the Arunachal Pradesh Victim Compensation Act, lok adalat, the POCSO Act, human trafficking, the RTE Act, MGNREGA, and such.
Resource person Atum Lamnio, who along with advocates and paralegal volunteers interacted with the labourers at Bishumphudung in Dirang subdivision, found that most of the children of the BRO labourers are not enrolled in schools due to unavailability of transportation. Awareness camps were also held at Singchung, Buragaon, Neichiphu, and other areas.
It was also found that the labourers, aged between 15-56 years, cannot differentiate between signatures, and have never been to school.
