PASIGHAT, Dec 3: Students aged 14-17 years from various schools across East Siang district participated in a district level quiz competition under the Interactive School Engagement (ISE)programme, organised by the District Election Officer (DEO) at the DC’s conference hall here on Saturday.
Twenty-two students from nine government and three private schools participated in the district level round, during which DEHS School, Pasighat, and Kendriya Vidyalaya qualified to take part in the state level competition.
Students selected at the state level round will be sent to New Delhi to compete in the national level round.
The contest was presided over by DEO Tamiyo Tatak, while local MLA Kaling Moyong and Superintendent of Police, Prashant Gautam were present to encourage the participants.
Addressing the students, the DEO informed that the aim of the quiz was to engage the young students and future voters “in a self-learning exercise about electoral process, so as to build on informed electorate in near future.”
He exhorted the students to bring in eligible voters to the polling stations and ensure 100 per cent polling.
Moyong in his address urged the participants to play a positive role in future election processes. He also highlighted the current and upcoming development activities in Pasighat.
The Tawang DEO also organised a district level quiz competition under the same theme on Sunday.
The team from Government Higher Secondary, Lumla, was adjudged winners,closely followed by Government Higher Secondary School, Tawang, and Government Higher Secondary School, Jang.
They will represent the district at the state level quiz competition, scheduled to be held from December 18. (DIPROs)
