ANYA demands CM’s resignation over ‘dog remark’

ITANAGAR, Dec 4: Alleging that Chief Minister Pema Khandu hurt the sentiment of the Nyishi people by comparing Palin MLA Takam Pario to a dog during his Assembly session speech on October 14 last, the All Nyishi Youth Association (ANYA) has announced a series of bandh calls in Itanagar, demanding Pema’s resignation.
“There will be a 12-hour Capital bandh on December 15 as first phase of the agitation if Pema Khandu refuses to step down as chief minister,” said ANYA President Biri Kakum in a press conference held here on Monday.
“We strongly condemn and disagree with the remark made by the CM, which is uncalled for from a person holding a very dignified post,” Kakum said.
“The humiliation of our Nyishi elected leader, who represents us in the state Assembly, has touched the deepest sentiment of the entire Nyishi youth and the community,” he claimed.
Further, endorsing the Nyishi Elite Society’s demands, the ANYA condemned the Pema-led BJP Government for its alleged ‘step motherly treatment’ towards the Nyishi community.
