ROING, Dec 4: Fifty farmwomen took part in a daylong training programme on ‘Quality Improvement in Ginger’ organized by the Spices Board’s field office here in Lower Dibang Valley district recently.
During the programme, which was conducted in collaboration with the Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), specialists Toktel Boko, VK Pandey and Monika Panggam spoke on a range of issues, including pest management, application of bio-agents to combat fungal and pest problems, nutrients management, and rainwater harvesting structures for production of quality ginger.
A practical class on producing value-added ginger pickle was also conducted by master trainer Oimang Lego.
Senior scientist and KVK Head, Dr TJ Ramesha, and Senior Field Officer, Spices Board, Roing, Jyothish K also briefed about schemes and programmes available for farmers.
