NAHARLAGUN, Dec 21: The Arunachal Pradesh State Co-operative Apex Bank (APSCAB) installed its first ATM booth at its women’s branch here on Thursday.
Inaugurating the booth, RD Minister Alo Libang advised the bank’s staff to work with more dedication to earn the public’s confidence. He expressed hope that the bank would be able to install ATM booths at all of its branches.
He also assured to extend full support of his department and tie up with the APSCAB for parking government funds.
Joint RCS, B Gammeng, said the launch of the ATM booth would bring the Apex Bank and the cooperative sector to the limelight. He opined that the mobile ATM van to be launched by the Apex Bank would be of immense benefit, particularly to the people of far-flung areas of the state.
Apex Bank Administrator, Habung Lampung, informed that each of the bank’s branches has been given a fixed target on loan recovery, CD ratio, number of customers, etc, as performance indicators “which are to be achieved within three months.”
He also informed that the bank is setting up a recovery cell and a corporate cell at its head office to ensure smooth control and functioning of the bank.
NABARD General Manager, Gyanendra Mani, advised the Apex Bank to launch a ‘Go digital’ campaign to encourage the people in the rural areas to adopt digital transaction.
“The Apex Bank should focus on the development of rural areas by extending loans under the Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Bunkar Yojana, KCC, etc, which would help the bank to manage the NPA level,” he said.
Apex Bank Managing Director, Tsering Thongdok, said the bank is proposing to have another 36 ATMs installed at all its branches.
He said the Apex Bank is issuing four types of ATM cards – PMJDY debit card, ordinary ATM cards, KCC ATM cards, and Mudra (which has not been launched yet).
Thongdok also spoke on the bank’s plan to implement the FI plan with the support of the state government for setting up 20 CSPs through micro ATMs, the mobile van, the satellite branch of V-sat, and solar power backup.
