ITANAGAR, Dec 23: The Nyishi Elite Students’ of Arunachal Pradesh (NESA) has demanded the resignation of Chief Minister Pema Khandu over the ‘dog’ remark he allegedly hurled at Leader of Opposition Takam Pario during the recently-concluded Assembly session.
The NESA in a release said that Pema insulted and defamed the image of the entire Nyishi community by using an unpleasant word against Pario in the Assembly ‘which proved that he is still not attaining maturity level to hold highly responsible position in the state.’
The student body also accused the CM of neglecting Nyishi-inhabited areas of the state, adding that Nyishi areas were not chosen for the establishment of sainik schools, despite the Nyishi having the highest population among all tribes of the state.
It also accused the CM of promoting a particular religion by providing fund for the construction of monasteries, and using delaying tactics in the construction of the greenfield airport in Hollongi.
The NESA has threatened to launch a series of democratic movements till the CM resigns.
