DSP appeals for prior intimation on VIP visits

PASIGHAT, Jan 5: East Siang Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), A Taying, has urged VIPs, including MLAs, ministers and high-level state and central government officials, not to make surprise visits, saying that these might pose a security risk to them.
“It not only compromises the security of the visiting dignitaries but also creates great problem for the police of the host district as the local police are solely responsible for the security of the dignitaries during their visit,” the DSP told this correspondent on Friday.
Taying, who is currently holding the charge of SP, urged the police HQ and the control room to convey, in the interests of security, when any VIP visits the district.
