ITANAGAR, Jan 10: Arunachal Pradesh Governor Dr BD Mishra and Chief Minister Pema Khandu have in separate messages extended heartiest greetings and good wishes to the people of the state on the auspicious occasion of Sarok festival being celebrated by the Akas of East Kameng district.
The Governor prayed that the festivity invokes blessings from the reverent deities for the wellbeing and prosperity of the society in general and the Aka community in particular.
In his message, the Governor said that festivals and ceremonies are the key dimensions of human culture and form an important component of socio-environmental life of the people. Indigenous people have carried on with their traditions since time immemorial and brought various folds and groups together to strengthen the bond of oneness.
“I am sure the members of the Aka community will come forward in a magnanimous way to cement their ties with one and all in the society by their vibrant customs and traditions,” he said.
In his message, Chief Minister Pema Khandu said that Sarok celebration marks the prayer to Mother Earth for well being of all mankind. He offered his prayers for peace, prosperity and progress of every community of Arunachal Pradesh.
“As Sarok drives away evil spirits, let’s drive away the evils of hatred, violence and corruption and join together to take our state on the path of accelerated development. Let’s all join our Aka brothers and sisters of East Kameng and join in their celebrations,” he added.
