DIRANG, Jan 14: The second phase of the Indo-Bhutan white water rafting expedition in the Kameng river was flagged off by Parliamentary Secretary Phurpa Tsering along with West Siang Deputy Commissioner Dr Sonal Swaroop on Sunday.
The expedition is being organized jointly by the Ministry of Defence (DHMI), the National Institute of Mountaineering and Allied Sports (NIMAS), Dirang, the 4 Corps HQ, the 71 Inf Division IV HQ, and the Bhutan-based IMTRAT HQ as part of the golden jubilee celebration of the diplomatic relations between India and Bhutan.
The expedition will start on 17 January from Marjingla, and sail through Seppa, Bana and Kimi before culminating at Balukpong on 24 January, covering a distance of approximately 200 km.
Present during the flagging off ceremony were, among others, Col Sarfaraz Singh, Director of NIMAS, Lt Colonel Tsering Penjor of the Royal Bhutan Army, Mukesh Saraf, Commandant, 4th ITBP based in Dirang, and Sambu Siongju, West Kameng District BJP President.
Later, the parliamentary secretary held an interaction programme with the departmental heads of West Kameng and the general public of Dirang at Chug village in Dirang.
